USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project that is funded by the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). UNYM implements the Kenya Health Partnerships for Quality Services (KHPQS) - DREAMS and OVC program in Homa Bay, Kisii and Migori counties. The project is being implemented by a PATH Kenya-led consortium of Kenyan Non-Governmental Organizations over a five-year period from March 18, 2021, to March 17, 2026. UNYM’s activities are aligned to the purpose of the KHPQS – that is to increase use of quality county-led health and social services in select counties in Kenya. This is a service delivery project at the county level, providing HIV services to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). KHPQS supports the Government of Kenya (GoK) in attaining its goal of addressing the HIV/AIDS response, safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and adolescents impacted by HIV/AIDS.

UNYM will contribute to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals, which seek to attain the health

and overall well-being of men, women, children, and adolescents. The planned activities will enhance the capacity of county health and social services systems and structures to provide care and support for people living with HIV (PLHIV), OVC and their families, women, children, and youth in a sustainable way. The strong partnerships thus created will reduce dependence on foreign assistance while supporting the Journey to Self-Reliance (J2SR).

Children living with HIV (CLHIV) are a key focus in OVC program; USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto envisions to ensure that all the CALHIV within the supported counties are enrolled in the project and achieve the UNAIDS 95:95:95 goal. This requires a collaboration between the Ministry of Health (MOH), Care and Treatment partners and USAID Nuru Ya Mtoto among other actors.
