On 29/08/2024, Caritas Homa Bay, in collaboration with Cheshire Disability Services Kenya, established and strengthened the capacity of selected parents’ support groups for greater effectiveness at Nyaburi Special Comprehensive School. The initiative aimed to empower parents of children with disabilities by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support to advocate for their children's rights, access services, and foster inclusive environments at home and in the community. Training sessions focused on leadership, advocacy, emotional support, and navigating available resources. Outcomes included enhanced capacity of parents’ support groups to effectively advocate for their children, strengthened networks, and increased community involvement in disability inclusion.
