On 27/08/2024, the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay, with support from Cheshire Disability Services Kenya, conducted training and sensitization sessions for children and youth with disabilities on various advocacy issues at St. Paul’s Catholic Church amphitheater. The training aimed to empower them with the knowledge and skills to actively participate in governance processes, understand applicable laws and policies, and engage with other topical issues affecting their rights and inclusion. The sessions covered topics such as disability rights, the role of youth in policy-making, and how to advocate for systemic change. Outcomes included increased awareness among children and youth with disabilities of their legal rights, enhanced advocacy skills, and greater participation in local and national decision-making processes.
